Another great book in this area is Fr Christopher Kellerman’s All Oppression Shall Cease, on slavery in global Catholic history. This is a difficult topic, but I fear we will continue to fail at evangelization until we reconcile with our past.
Thank you for this! I come from the Ignatian tradition and taught at a Jesuit high school (my Alma Mater) for 12 years. I resonate with much of the disillusionment you speak of, and I think it can be extremely difficult to witness our schools, which claim such a strong mission and identity of justice, fail to live it out in reality.
